Small flower gardens have just as many elements and features as a larger landscape, but in a smaller footprint. It’s challenging, and I love to design them!

A well designed garden stimulates your senses. Indeed, that may be its main role. Activating senses dulled or ignored by our lifestyle.
Color captures your attention and draws you into the garden. Birdsong, wind rustling leaves, fragrance, and texture are examples. Gardens that ask you to pause, linger a moment, breathe deeply and enjoy being human.
What is Size is a Small Garden Design ?
I define them as Foundation Gardens for original Capes, Splits, and Colonial styles. Small Garden Design could be also for a street garden on a smaller lot, or a patio garden, or along a section of woodland edge.
Elements of a Small Garden Design
These include 1) the Winter Garden 2) Colorful Flower Combinations that Bloom from Spring thru Frost 3) Plants that resist Critters like Bunnies and Hedgehogs 4) Natives and Pollinators 5) Natural layouts that look lush– all that in a small amount of square feet!
