5 Steps to Transform Your Landscape

Beautiful, Functional, and Earth-Friendly using Native Plants and Stonework

1) Initial Consultation

Our first step in transforming your landscape and gardens is to meet in your home landscape. To prepare, you will complete a brief questionnaire (“Homework”) prior to our meeting. During our consultation I listen to your thoughts, dreams, and site problems.

Once I’ve heard your thoughts and wish lists, then I proposed design solutions to your landscape problems and present ways to create your dream garden and transform your landscape.

Plan for 1-2 hours outdoors. My hourly rate is charged for this service. On Site consultations available in towns of Sudbury, Acton, Lincoln, Concord, North Framingham, Acton, Maynard.

Design Planning Estimate

After the consultation, you’ll have design solutions to transform your landscape and gardens, and I’ll know your needs. Off the clock, you’ll receive your free design planning estimate. Later, a detailed estimate/contract proposal of the design objectives, concepts, and work to be done is emailed to you.

2) Design Begins

Design work begins with the receipt of a 50% deposit and signed contract. You’ll provide a plot plan, septic plan, and conservation site plan if applicable. First, I measure and photograph. Then, I create a CAD base plan with your plot plan, septic plan, conservation limits, and measurements. Then, I begin to work up your landscape transformation. Your plan will detail planning solutions and ideas for hardscape and planting design. I call this a draft version. Supporting documents include a photo plant list, plant list, and concept and materials photos.

3) Review Meetings

We’ll meet via Zoom to review the draft plan version of your beautiful landscape reimagined. Often, we also meet in person soon after the Zoom meeting to review your plan outside in your landscape. Then, minor tweaks, if necessary are completed and construction notes created. Then we meet again via Zoom to review the final plan and the supporting documents.

4) Final Landscape Plan

The finished custom design plan includes scaled CAD plan PDF, a blackline print, a plant list (with botanical and common names and the number of plants), color photo plant list, concept and materials photos, and construction notes that detail style and materials.

5) Installation Estimates

Project Management and Design Implementation services are available. As project manager I gather estimates, schedule dates, and co-ordinate all work phases with contractors. I use qualified, experienced, and insured independent contractors.

Design Implementation

Importantly, I layout the plan according to the approved design and make sure it is installed that way. Walls, paths, patios laid out on the ground, plant beds shapes laid out, plants ordered and tagged, plants laid out in the beds for contractors to plant. Lighting and garden accessories are laid out as well. We review the landscape together as it is installed so that the gardens are just the way you want them. Then you can enjoy your transformed landscape.

Maintenance

I will recommend experienced contractors to maintain your new landscapes and garden.
