Setting the Stage for Wonder
Landscape design has many moving parts.
Function
Design begins with Function. Creating the shape and size of planting beds is an aspect of function. Enough planting space is necessary to design and create stunning borders.
Another is circulation or the way people and cars move thru the space. It’s the placement of walkways, driveways, parking so they allow an ease of getting from one point to another in our busy lives.
Beauty
Flower gardens composed of colorful plant combinations, lush plantings of natural drifts, and bloom succession create a sense of abundance. Add in the plants for a winter garden for a four season landscape.
Horticulture and Native Plants
Choosing plants that will thrive in a particular location and not outgrow where they are planted, or overtake the garden is vital to creating happy places that nurture us.
Using native plants increases pollinator and bird populations. Removing and avoiding invasive plants helps our native forests thrive.
Intentional Design
As a designer, my intention, is to take all the moving parts of Beauty, Function, Horticulture, and Native Plants Choices to transform your existing landscape. To create a place that asks you to linger long enough to experience wonder.

The climbing vine, Clematis ‘Sweet Autumn’, seen above, has seed heads that shimmer in the early January morning light. It captured my attention and gifted me with a moment of wonder.
