Exploring the Beauty of My Winter Entry Garden
The charms of my Winter Entry Garden delights me all season long.
Enjoying the interplay of textures, shapes, forms, and foliage colors creates a dynamic and visually engaging composition. As my perspective changes, the entry garden’s blend of textures, shapes, and colors comes to life in new ways.As I approach my house, my attention is drawn to the pollinator perennial flower garden. Leaving its foliage provides shelter for pollinators to overwinter, reminding me that I’m contributing to the environment.Light and shadow play a part, too. The Leucothe’s reddish winter foliage reflects light from its shiny leaves, creating a striking contrast with the larger leaves, shrub size, and deep green of the Rhododendron. The Dogwood’s twiggy form adds another contrast to the solid masses of the Leucothe and Rhododendron, while also providing a screen for the neighbor’s house.
The snow pile has been melting for a week, and I’m ready for spring flowers. Yet the woody plant structure still stands, framing the scene and offering a warm welcome.
Cheerful daffodils will soon take the place of the snow pile, turning this entry garden into a delightful sight for the whole neighborhood.
