Dear Clients and Friends,
After 36 wonderful years as a landscape garden designer, I have decided it is time to retire from my professional practice, Maria von Brincken Landscape Garden Design.
When I started my business in 1990, I could never have imagined the many beautiful gardens I would have the opportunity to create—or, more importantly, the wonderful people I would meet along the way. It has been an extraordinary privilege to spend my career doing work that I love, bringing together art, color, plants, and nature to create gardens that are both beautiful and deeply personal to the people who enjoy them.
Each garden has had its own story. Thank you for inviting me into your homes, sharing your ideas with me, and trusting me to help shape the spaces where you gather with family, entertain friends, watch the seasons change, and simply enjoy being outdoors. Some of you have welcomed me back to your gardens over many years, and it has been especially rewarding to see those landscapes—and the families who enjoy them—grow and evolve.
Throughout my career, I have believed that a garden should be more than something beautiful to look at. It should bring joy, connect us with nature, welcome birds and pollinators, and create a place that feels uniquely your own. Knowing that the gardens we created together will continue to grow, change, and be enjoyed is one of the greatest gifts I take with me into retirement.
Although I am closing this chapter of my professional life, I am looking forward to having more time for some new adventures—including finishing my book, traveling, spending time with friends, and, of course, continuing to enjoy the beauty and inspiration of gardens.
Most of all, I want to say thank you. Thank you for your confidence in me, for your friendship, and for allowing me to make a living doing something that has brought me so much joy.
It has been an honor to be a small part of your homes and gardens for all these years.
