Effective natural, meadow or pollinator style flower gardens require at least 70% native flowering plants and grasses. The gardens I’ve designed shown below fulfil that ecological requirement and can work with any home style. They can be wilder or tamer, be large or small, replace side lawns, be part of entry gardens, and repeat the palette of more traditional gardens planted nearby. The addition of large or small native shrubs and trees create winter interest and more flowers. Natural gardens begin to flower with spring bulbs and continue thru the summer and early fall. Then the grasses and seed heads provide the show.
